Does anyone know if it is possible to install the factory CD changer into the Z. I wondered if the stock CD/ radio head unit has the connectors and would control the changer. I am betting that its the same head unit that is used in the C5 which supports the changer option.
Thanks:-?

installing a CD changer in a Z06

Yes it's easy, (so they say)... there are two different CD changers that will work, both Delco
PN 12495746 Delco CD changer lists for $499.00
PN 25685332 lists for $800+ but is the factory player for the Vette
PN 12496743 harness and kit lists for $124.00
Now that your head is spinning with $$$ let me give you the really good news, you can order any or all of these from GMpartsdirect.com at greatly reduced prices. about 25% less

The harness kit comes with the factory harness, mounting plates, and instructions.
The harness plugs into the radio harness on the right side of the car, near the passenger footwell. Then runs to the rear of the car to the proper mounting spot for the CD changer. The instruction sheet tells all. You will need some sort of adhesive, two part epoxy is what I was told by a Chevy tech.
I will be ordering mine so it will arrive about the time the weather turns nice again around my area, probably late Feb.
With the idea of maybe having to remove some plastic trim items, I want to make certain the weather is warm enough so I don't have to worry about the plastic being brittle from the cold.
Good Luck with yours.

Looks like you have done some research. Can you tell us the difference in the 2 changers besides the price?

Right now I don't have the answer to that question, it was one of mine also. I have sent an e-mail about this to GMpartsdirect to see if they can tell me. Just sent it out this morning, so I don't expect an answer for a couple of days. When I do get it, I'll post it right away.

Oh yeah, I need to give much credit to C4C5specialist in the corvetteactioncenter.com who answered many of my initial questions when I started checking into how to go about this project.

I just installed the factory CD changer in my Z this weekend. It was a pretty simple installation. It will take you about an hour to install it. You can get the changer and installation kit from Fitchner Chevrolet for less than $500.00
