I know I've seen this topic before but I don't recall the answer.

Is it "0" as in the number or is it "O" as in the letter?

Well, technically it's Z06, as in "Z - Zero - Six". But Z-oh-6 sounds better.
The reason we use "OH" is that "OH" is a word that a expresses strong emotion or surprise. Everyone knows what a pleasant surprise it is to and drive a "Zee Oh Six" and how emotional we are about a cars.

I bought a url for my Z and guitar stuff. I was hoping I did not screwup and buy the letter instead of the number. I thought it was the number "zero".

I guess I should stop telling everyone I drive a Z-zero-six, it does sound kinda funny! :yeadog:

I always keep this on file so I don't have to direct people to the old threads.
Here we go, once again, :)

Good question, how about some nit-picking ?

When I look at my original window sticker:
The first line in the upper left corner is "2004 CORVETTE Z06".
The type font shows clearly the difference between the letter "O" and the number "zero".
The "O" in Corvette is not the same as the "0" in 2004.
The "0" in Z06 is the same as the zeros in "2004".

Therefore, I conclude (actually I already knew), it is Z "zero" 6.
But, it is, as always, pronounced "Zee oh six". In the U.S.
This follows the GM convention for defining "options",
sometimes upgraded to "model", like Z28, Z71, etc.
The ways of the General and the car community are deep and mysterious.

And, please, no crap from the Canadians about "Zed oh six".
I know, I know. I have a '71 Zed28.
I pulled a "real" Trans-Am Camaro to St. Jovite, Quebec track in 1968 on a open trailer,
and all I heard was poor kids on the side of the road yelling "Zed 28, Zed 28".
It was only the 2nd year for Camaro and the Z28. They LOVE road-racing in Canada.

Excuse me, I have to go pick more nits and fight some ignorant folks about "Porche-ah" or Porche"

End of old post.
