Is the Z06 the fastest car you've ever owned?

My previous car was a stock 1996 Dodge Viper GTS which I would judge to be slightly faster than my stock Z06, So this is my second fastest car.

When I want to go fast, however, I take my 1999 Yamaha YZF-R1. I have a car to keep dry, keep warm, take stuff, and talk to my companion.

It's my fastest street machine. Unless you count the one or two times I took my 67 Plymouth Satellite (440, 4:11, HP roller cam-can't remember the specs, 12.5x1 pistons, dual bendix pumps, Goodrich skins) down the street for a "test drive"!

The car was sponsored and I ran it for about 2 years in upstate NY. I ran SuperStock "for the money" since I beat just about anything I was put up against and trophies don't get ya coffee! Lost once to a factory Cuda. The "breakout" was 11.01 and I could consistantly run 11.10s. Best was 11.03. Compared to the cars of today, it was like taking a tank down the road.... but ya still got there in a hurry!

I've owned two ZR1's, two '67 435hp Vettes, and the Z06. The Z is the fastest Vette. I hate to say this on this forum, but my fastest car was a modified 5.0 mustang with nitrous which ran the 1/4 @ 10.85 seconds.

Overall in all aspects-yes,but straight line performace--no--A FEW ORGINAL GROUNDPOUNDERS STILL LURKING IN MY GARAGE.

Actually, I think the 2001 coupe is faster, but the Z06 is definately the quickest, most powerful car I've ever owned.

I had a Dino Ferrari that had a higher top end but never owned this much TORQUE!!! Can we say American muscle? It's more fun blasting to 80 down the ramp than trying to hit 180 and I can do it more often too.

My first car was a 70 RAM AIR 4 GTO in 1984) i went 12.3o i havnt felt that in awhile so when my Z comes in i hope to feel the same.

No, I love my Z-06. But the '97 GTS I campaigned in '98 ran 11.5 @ 125+ setup for Road Racing!

It could be darn close to the best handling, definitely the most forgiving!

My 94 Viper RT/10 ran 12.0's @ 118+ However, it had Headers, Exhaust, and Gears! I already had the Z-06 to 12.31 @ 114.75 so with a few mods it could easily be there!

I saw a guy at Englishtown run 12.00 at I believe 114 and change..stock except for a k & N filter panel and a 160 degree thermostat..thats stock to my ears and he was one hell of a driver..

That is a smoking time!

If I understand it correctly the ZO6 is about creating a car with ultimate performance balance..

Thats where this car shines...its the total package that makes it americas best!

In the past I've owned cars which I thought were fast, but now I realise that they were just peppy!
