Nice Runs JLA... I have run around 171 at night, with lights on... Top of Fifth. 6th will not pull... you will slowly continue to lose speed till probably 165 in 6th. The only way to get more out of the car, due to Gearing, and RPM Limitation is to run a Taller Rear tire... the car isn't out of steam... it is out of gear... If you could run a solid 1" Taller Diameter... you would gain about 6 more MPH.
Good Luck with the adventures! Be careful!
PS... I'll say this... if you did 175 when it was newer... with New Full Tread Tires... and now you are doing an indicated 176... that could be nothing more than you have worn down the rears a bit!

2.) If you think the car can do 170 in 6th just leave it in 6th and run it!
I have done numerous top speed runs..., in many cars. The '97 GTS Viper that I campaigned in '98 did just a tick over 200... still would NEVER pull 6th Gear!
If you are actually doing 175+... you should be able to touch the limiter at that speed... 171 was about 6200 when I did the one... I haven't done it since... I have been spending to much time prepping for this years Campaign in SS.
I don't doubt your times, I thought I was helping to validate... but sorry.. 6th gear won't pull it... At 170+ MPH... you are going to have to leave the car in 6th for quite some time, to see that it is falling off MPH... 5 seconds in NOTHING at those speeds...
Good Luck... be careful... set up a InCar Cam! That would be sweet! We tried to video my 200+ run in the Viper... but my friend couldn't hold the camera Still!
About 185 it is pretty blurry... but I tried... and atleast brought a witness!
Have fun

Sounds good to me! Thanks for the detail... I think we are saying the same thing... you are saying it isn't 'accelerating' in 6th, but it is Maintaining... That could definitely be true, when I did my Run I only held 6th for about 4 seconds... then started to cool down.
I would definitely say that the additional 4500 Miles on the rear tires are why you are seeing + 1 or 2 mph... I am sure if you are someone who does top speed runs periodically... you also do occasional burnouts
... if you figure you can get 25,000 Miles (Very optimistic) out of a set of Supercars... You have used roughly 20% of your treadlife.

I wonder if the 3.73 gear would be enough of a gear change to help 6th pull to the top. Anyone care to do the math??

Sounds like you will not be able to use that exact stretch of highway again! (If any cops read this forum)or If you do -your next post could be from "Lock up"
Around here people talk about easy pass (electronic pay for turnpikes) and how your times could be tracked between exchanges. How far can someone(law enforcement) take what you say? If you list your Vin & State of registration along with the name of the highway you (went over "the limit")on -I just wonder if anybody could do anything about it.
Just curious is all. I wish I was the one running a car like that thru the redlines!
Sincerely,
SumoWoody
