I thought I blew a head gasket, but after taking it apart I see a hairline crack on the piston wall. Is it possible to re-sleeve that piston or do I have to replace the short block? My heads checked out and I'm closely examining all of the valves. Any short blocks out there? Would an iron block work?
Thanks in advance.

If you have a hairline crack in the cylinder wall, the block is toast. Look for a LS3 block if you want to add boost.

As mentioned the block is toast

I agree go LS3 for N/A or LS9 if going to any type of boost.

Or go with GM parts performance crate engines designed for hard use of engine

It's an all motor NA Lingenfelter 660 build. If I use the LS3 block, can I use the Lingenfelter mods in the LS7 or do I need an LS7 block to keep all of the parts? Only 24k miles. Thanks.
