Someone had posted something like this before (looseing power steering at speed...120 or so). I'm not sure if anyone came up with an answer. I had this happen to me. I had it up around 120 in 4th and just want to coast into an exit. So I disengaged the clutch (I'm not sure if I shifted into neutral) and the power steering faded away and made it tough to steer. I reengaged the clutch in 4th gear and the power steering came back about as fast as it had faded away. Seems like the sensors for the power steering are a little quirky!

Hi there,
I would check for codes in the TCS module, as this is what controls the Magnasteer setup.
I will be back on Mon, to see how you do, c4c5

If you shifted into neutral or pushed in the clutch and let the engine come to an idle it maybe that the power steering pump at an idle can't overcome the extra effort to steer the wheels traveling at 120 MPH. Remember that they are like big gyroscopes spinning, and at those speeds you need alot of force to turn them.

Thanks c4c5specialist and ZEEOHSIX.

I'll check for any TCS codes this weekend. But I think ZeeOhSix might have the answer. I don't think there is anything wrong. Just something stupid that I did. I also wanted to point this out to fellow Z06ers so that they'll be aware of it.

Thanks again,
Dave:cheers:

Gee, if I told you that I'll have everyone watchin my favorite spot! Let's put it this way. I got on the exit BEFORE the one that I almost ran over the M3 at and got off at that exit. I had to be about 50 yards from the exit and I got lazy and didn't want to shift to 5th. SO I coasted to the exit. That's also where I had it up to 45. Nice place because you see who's behind you, in front of you and on the side of the road. Good luck at Lime Rock, Dan!
