I'M NEW HERE ON THE ZO6 FORUM AND REALLY ENJOY READING THE MESSAGE BOARD. I,VE GOT A QUESTION ON LOWERING. AFTER LOWERING BY TIGHTING THE 10MM BOLTS UP FRONT AND ADJUSTING THE REAR BOLTS TO THE LAST 2 THREADS, THE PASSENAGER SIDE APPEARED TO BE WAY LOWERER THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 60 MILES I ADJUSTED THE LOW SIDE. IT TOOK 4 TURNS TO EVEN UP THE FRONT. I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE PAID MOTE ATTENTION HOW MANY TURNS IT TOOK TO REACH FULL STOP ON EACH SIDE. IS IT NORMAL TO HAVE TO TIGHTEN ONE SIDE THAT FAR AS OPPOSED TO THE OTHER??

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ANSWERS...

Hello everyone, I too am new to the forum. I get my Quick Silver ZO6 sometime this week, its on the the truck now!
Am I understanding...you don't need to purchase anything to lower the ZO6? My TransAm uses Eibach springs to lower. I can't wait to get the car! I look forward to participating on this forum.

HI all,
Yes, you can lower just by screw turns in the front and back.
Just remember that the trim heights are not measured at the fender well to ground, they are measured at the pinch junctions, right at where the seam to the doors meet.
Both at the front and rear of the doors.
Give at least one week of settling after the adjustments, as driving will settle the adjustment screws and bushings.
Also, an alignment is critical to the completeness of this mod.

I LIVE IN ARLINGTON. I TALKED TO YOU IN GREEN COVE AT RICH,S AND OVER THE PHONE A WEEK OR SO AGO. I WAS HAVING A HECK OF A TIME
TRYING TO GET THE FRONT LEVEL. THE MEASUREMENTS SEEMED OKAY, BUT WHEN DRIVING THE PASSENAGERS SIDE ALWAYS APPEARED TOO LOW.
I'VE JUST LEARNED TO CLOSE MY RIGHT EYE AND EVERYTHING IS BETTER...I GUESS ITS FINALLY SETTLING IN NOW. ANYWAY IT SURE LOOKS A LOT BETTER.

I ALSO TOOK MY COVER OFF THE STOCK AIRBOX AND INSTAALED A K&N. I WONDER WHO TOLD ME ABOUT THAT.LOL. THANKS

You should lower both sides the same amount, and you should use your best judgement to the amount. Some cars can be lowered a great deal (coupe and conv usually more that lightweight FRC's), others can't.

An important note is that the Sway Bars also connect the sides, so if you lower one side more than the other, you will be causing a great deal of "wedge" to be in the suspension. Unfortunately, GM gave us a car with adjustable springs, but NOT adjustable end-links. As a racer, I always adjust the ride height with the bars disconnected, then adjust the end links to give NEUTRAL sway-bar bias. Although you cant do this with the stock hardware, you should keep it in mind when attempting to "slam" your cars. Bad corner-weights can cause odd handling, and poor tire wear.

I thought that the cars came uneven from the factory, I measured mine before I lowerd it and the passenger side was slightly lower front and rear. I just turned the adjustment bolts the same amount of turns side to side. This way my car sits lower, but still has the factory differnce(passenger side slightly lower.) Does any body Know if this is true and why?

Measure before you start, after adjusting the bolts go for a ride so the car settles, remeasure height after that and adjust. I have my height set just under 1/8 on a inch higher on the drivers side because I usually drive my Vette alone, and it is equal with me sitting in the car. Have your car aligned after lowering it because the settings can change.

To lower your car there are several variables to keep in mind. Ride Height is set at the factory at 6.02" front and 6.22" rear. Remember this was set on a level and squared pad. There are two ways to setting the correct ride height. The easy way is to take it to the dealer (one with a good Corvette Alignment person) and have them reset the height. The other way is much harder. If you want to do it in your garage, get several 12" flooring tiles, and using a string level adjust them at four corners and ride height measuring points to level. Drive on your car and take preliminary measurements. Then reproportion the ride heights (remember to have the measurement points level by using the tiles) front to back to the highest initial setting (front or back). Some times it helps to have a good dealer
