I am curious when and if the LS7 is going to be available as a crate engine and if so how much do you guys think it will retail for?

Will it be worth waiting for instead of having one built?

An LS6 or LS2 crate engine from GM is just a bit over 5,000. I'm sure the LS7 will cost more, but considering a C5R block from GM is 6500, and most 427 builds run 15k+, GM may acctually be able to sell some motors if the price is right. The next question is, how hard is it to swap a Gen IV motor into a C5?

My guess for a GM 427 crate motor is 11 to 13G's.

I believe that Andy @ A & A already put a LS2 in a C5.

Actually he went the other way. He put a LS6 427 in a new 2005 C6

The LS-7 has been a crate motor through either JEGS or SUMMIT for at least 5 years now, the last time I saw one of them I believe they were just under 13K

Save money by going a 418 stroker. Runs around $8500 with good AFR heads. You will love the torque.
