I paid $426 Luxury tax on each Z. As I understand it, the tax is supposed to be phased out /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif . I would not let a couple hundred bucks deter me from getting a $50K car. The luxury tax is chump change.
In the mean time, if you wait for the tax to go down, most assuredly the price of the Z06 will go up and offset any savings.
