I'm still a little upset about the quality issues that I discussed in a prior thread. However, I had the car dyno'ed again today and with 7000 miles and a Vortex and PRT's it pulled 348.7 hp and 344.5 ft/lbs of torque. With a 15% drive train loss that equates to 410 hp at the crank. Not too bad for a lowly 2001 Z06.

I think I'm happier with the car today than I was a few days ago. Now if those quality issues would go away...

I read your other post about the quality of the Z06. I owned many Japanese cars before, and owning all Americans now. I have to tell you that, if you look at the overall picture, the Z06 quality is not so bad at all. I do agree with you that GM used many cheap parts on the Z06, but if you really think about it. The invoice of the Z06 is only around $41,500. This is hell of a good deal for a car that can perform like the Z06. It's the dealer that's ripping us off.

I guess it's all based on personal expectations. If you have a chance to inspect the Viper, you'll feel much better about the Z06. Of course, I do agree with you that GM can do much better, but then they may charge us more too. Just think about the cost of labor here in the US. They have to pay a person anywhere from $18-$25/hr just to stand there and slap on couple bolts.

Yes the Supra, the 300ZX, and the RX-7 had better interior qualities, but where are they all now??? If I have to make a list of all the minor things that GM can improve on the Z06, it's probably about 10 pages. But, if I own a Supra, it's probably the same....

I have to agree with you 100% on the performance. There's nothing that cost +- $10,000 can come close to the Z06's performance. So, keep on enjoying that nice looking SS you have......

SS, I don't remember if you published any previous dyno results on this forum. Your latest post shows excellent #s.

Do you attribute this to the current mileage on the car or the mods or both? Can you tell us how much your car dyno'd bone stock and the mileage at that time?

Glad your Z06 redeemed itself to you on the dyno. Poor quality problems can still be very troubling, for a car that sells for $50k, but what we are really paying for and expect to be most satisfying is all under the hood. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Your #'s are looking good. Keep the faith on the quality issue, I am a perfectionist and have just never found it in anything at any cost produced by man or machine. For the dollars it's the best bang for the buck........
