Seems like the first mod will be the vortex ram air......does this mod look ok....I mean does the bow stick out like a sore thumb?...if not do you buy the clear or the black box?......Also considering the ripper or the kiran, leaning towards the kirban, recent posts say it is better than the ripper and takes less effort. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill

On the Vortex issue, I went with the carbon fiber box since it matches the RK Sport carbon fiber engine compartment kit I have. If I was to go with something else, I'd choose the clear so you can see when the filter needs to be changed.

On the shifter issue, I went with the Ripper as I think a vast majority of the people on this and other forums did. It's an awesome shifter with a firm feel and a shorter throw than the Kirban.

Vortex is the best and looks like the factory meant it to be there. Not at all obtrusive or overstated and certainly not "ricey looking". My opinion, buy the black or carbon fiber box.</FONT f>

Went with the clear on the Vortex so that I can see if anything has been sucked into the box. I love my Ripper.

Check my sig. The K&N works great and is the easiest to put back to stock.

I went with Kirban for a few reasons, one I liked how it worked and second and most important is that the factory is 20 minutes from my house, I painted my clear box the same color as my car, because I could.

Ize here!!

Vortex Rammer and Power Duct on both Zs. JMHO I think all the intakes do about the same HP wise +/- a couple of ponies, but I purchased the Vortexes because I thought they were the best bang for the buck. I gotta tell ya, whatever intake you choose, it really wakes that LS6 engine up!!

Dan, like you I am not sure where to start....from prior posts I think the rammer is the best hp gain for buck.....not so sure about the power duct though.

It seems as though the Vortex Rammer is the popular choice. I am just now looking at what mods to do to my Z. Can anyone give a suggestion as to where the best place is to find one and what is the power duct?

Is water a potential issue? My car will be driven in all weather.

Are any MAF changes worthwhile? There was always a lot of debate about this on my Cmaaro SS with an LS1. I changed the MAF ends only on the Cmaaro.

One last question. There is a hood seal I see in magazines for the gap between the hood and the engine compartment. Is that worthwhile?

Thanks in advance. I have much to learn about the Z06 and the LS6.

Well, from all the reading I have been able to do (been really busy lately, imagine work getting in the way of my play!!) it looks like I'll start with the Vortex and just keep learning.
