GEEZUS! Just got my copy of MT and read "Performance Wars" which IMHO should be renamed "BMW Whores". I got this subscription for free, and there will not be a renewal in this house!
Yes, the BMW M3 is a wonderful car, but it lost every performance category except one (tied) to the Z06. This was labelled as a PERFORMANCE TEST fer crissakes!
Oh, and for the record, MT is full of bovine excrement if they think they can buy an M3 for $49,395. I checked with one of the largest BMW dealerships in my area and they said "expect to wait 6 months and pay about $57k". I think I was supposed to also demonstrate volumes of gratitiude for being allowed to buy one.
Yeah, right. Meanwhile I will be driving my '02 EB Z06, purchased at $1,500 under MSRP, by the end of August.
And don't even start with the Boxster S - $57 grand plus for this underpowered rollerskate - the lots around here are of of 'em coming off of lease - can't seem to give them away.
I cannot believe the lack of journalistic professionalism demonstrated in this exercise of supposedly comparing the full out performance of a 2 seat sports car to a 4 seat sports coupe, then the declaring the performance loser as the winner because it has 4 seats.
