Waiting to order an 02' Z06 and definitely want to experience the NCM delivery. My only problem is I don't want to drive the car from Kentucky back to California (call it paranoia)

I've already received pricing for an enclosed transport from InterCity Lines so they can "baby" it back home...

Am I nuts? /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif

I think that the transport might be really expensive, and if you don't want to drive it, you might as well pick it up at the dealer. It'll save you the money also.

Now, don't get me wrong, I know that the price of the museum delivery goes towards aiding the museum. But, if you don't want to drive it, just pick it up at your dealer and then have a brick placed in your name.

You'll still be supporting the museum but you'll save yourself the drive. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Just a thought, though.

I agree. It's a catch 22. Both my wife and I really want to fly out to see the factory and the NCM. We also want to take delivery at the NCM just for the experience but starting to think about the drive home (delivery may be in the winter depending on when I sell the SS... /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif )

The enclosed transporter is $1,500.00. Not too bad considering the expenses of driving it back.

Thanks for your input!

Y2K2Z06, Do the Museum Delivery. Enjoy the experience of the delivery and plan a KEWL route home. Get the miles on your new Z early, so you can enjoy the increased HP gain that occurs after every 1000 miles early on. The Museum pick up and trip back may actually be 1 of your most exciting and memorable Vette experiences ever. Just think about driving an American legend across the most beautiful, free and diverse country in the WORLD! FUBU69/LES BTW almost 4 C5's later and a trip to the museum and plant I have yet to experience the NCM delivery, but the trip to/from in my Z06 and the visit was AWESOME!!

I'd drive it home - the NCM experience is something you'll never forget. I too, was worried about driving home (only 300+ miles), but I was glad I did. It is a blast. As said earlier, plan an enjoyable route.

FUBU and I were discussing your delima today. We both agreed that a breakin ride across the country would be a memorable experience. Once you get your Z, you won't want to get out of it!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif If you have it brought back in a trailer, you'll be kicking yourself in the butt after getting it for not driving it home.

FUBU drove up to the CF Cruise-In from Southern Florida. It gave him time to get to know his Z and he fell in love with it.

I'll drive it for 'ya, this would give me a chance to see my daughter in Orange, California!

Just kidding, would not want the responsibility!

My opinion: Do the NCM delivery and enjoy the drive home!
