Anyone here dealt with Corvettes of Houston on o.e. chrome wheel exchange ? They have a good price but my main concern is the look of the chrome. I have a black z06 and I want the wheels
to be wicked bright, like mirrors. I am thinking of doing this deal tomorrow, so any input/pics
would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Check ebay for chrome wheels

There is a dealer in Michigan offering stunning Z06 chrome wheels on Ebay. Just browse on Z06 wheels. These wheels have wonderful C-5 centers in color, with chrome caps.

Their web site says they specialize in OEM quality wheels. Looks like a quality product.

Check it out. This may be my 3rd mod! Z06Y Lady, Wheeling and Dealing :D

I agree those chromies are hard to beat. I'm still wishing santa will bring me a set. I think the web site for that company is:

That's the place.

I'm really tempted. I like these centers much better than others I've seen on the internet. I want to keep my original wheels so I have the option of restoring the car to original in the future.

When we caravaned weekend before last I was really impressed how the sunlight played off the curent wheels. Then I thought these world be fabulous in chrome! Now my dilemma is do I want chrome on the 4 corners, or under the hood. I want it all. it will happen. Z06Y Lady, In a reflective mood. :D

Wolf,
I was in COH on Sat. I took a minute to look at the chrome wheels. They looked pretty good. The center caps (on the display) had no markings on them. They had one set with markings in the case, so they might sell them (I don't remember if they were chrome though).
One thing I noticed since I have been checking them out on ebay is that these were not chromed on the inside of the rim. I found one set on ebay that is not there anymore that showed off the chroming on the inside of the rim as well. They looked pretty good.

If I had known I could have taken a pic. But I did look in the back of their shop and they had racks of them.
Make sure to check on their chrome warranty. I heard some offer only one year instead of three.

1-2-3 Years

The Michigan wheels are warranted for 3 years. Perhaps they should sponsor this forum or they might offer a Z06vette.com member discount. Somebody should contact them. Does anyone know how much of the sales price goes back to ebay?

Got my chrome wheels before I got the car! Mine came from Corvette Wheel Specialists out of California. Two things to check before buying is are the wheels GM wheels and are they '01 or '02s. There is such a shortage of the '02 that your exchanges are usually '01s. If that makes a difference to you, then make sure you specify you want the '02s. My wheels look great! Another hint, before putting them on, spray them with Rainex and they will be so much easier to clean. The Z06s are notorious for brake dust and this helps immensely in keeping them clean. Enjoy!

Okay, trying to close this deal today. I just
talked to AAA Rims, and though those pictures above look impressive, I was not impressed with
knowledge of their wheels. They did not have o.e.
wheels in stock, only repro's which were $1350.00
per set and they could not tell me any particluars
about the wheels like weight comparison with o.e.
He just said they were triple-chorme plated & chrome had a 2 year warranty. I just don't get a
good feeling from them. Since no bad reports on
C.O.H. & CorvetteSS wheels look great, I will probably go with them. Any last minute input ?
Thanks for the help.

Well - First of all, this is my first post on the forum - I have been member for several months and have really enjoyed the amount of knowledge here and the commradery of this group.

Second - I have also been searching for chrome wheels and today bought a set from Corvettes of Houston. They appear to have a GREAT reputation as many members seem to have used them with a good experience. They were very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a three year warranty and all orders are inspected prior to shipping. Good enough for me!!
Sincerely,
Ron Robertson

Frank, thanks for the welcome!!! Well now to run up my post count!!! Seriously, I have a question - What type of valve stem is everyone putting in the chrome wheels: chrome or original equipment rubber? If you use chrome, is there any problem with using the "fix a flat"?
Thanks,
Ron

Okay, closed the deal today. I was ready to order from C.O.H when I decided make one last comparison. Called Corvette Mike & spoke to Matt in wheels. He was very very knowledgeable and helpful & I decided to go with their chrome reproduction wheels. They have a deal on them for $1350/set w/prepaid shipping, they weigh only about 1 lb more than o.e.'s, they use a 4 step chroming procedure & this way I will keep my original wheels for future sale or to replace if I sale the car. I am happy with my decision Matt was great to work with and good service means alot to me, he even agreed to ship FedEx 2nd day, I will have chromies before the weekend ! Thanks for the help everyone.
