I am looking at a new Z06, but it has over 150 miles on it. why would a car have that many miles on it if it was new? Something I should worry about? Thanks.

It may have been sold and road driven from 1 dealer to another. Maybe dealer drove it for a few rides with dealer plates.Assume that who ever drove this Z beat the crap out of it. Perhaps the plant QC guys randomly picked this car to check out quality control, then it would explain the milage and be ok. GOOD LUCK! FUBU69/LES

They come from the factory with under 10 miles on them normally, although some are more extensively tested. I would ask the dealer, what is up?

You could ask for a big discount, assuming somebody hammered it for 140 miles. Your warranty covers you for up to 36,000 miles or 3 years. If somebody hammered it, the problems should probably show up within that time frame.

Have you asked the dealer why it has 150 miles on it? In Michigan, dealers are required to have you sign an odometer statement showing the miles on the new vehicle. Mine had 2.0 when I bought it.
I believe the BG plant takes some vehicles on a quality evaluation test drive before shipping....that may be the case here.
Ask the dealer for the build date and shipping date...take note of the difference.
Personally, I would keep looking. Good luck, and let us know what you find.

Agreed, I think mine had 6 miles on it new, that was one of the first things I checked, but sometimes a car can be delieverd to different dealer and driven there. You have to realize though that 150 miles is not much still, and it is amazing just how fast the miles get on the car. By the time I got my car home for the first time it already had 75 miles on, you know, I had to show the thing off. So definitely ask, but no worries, to me the thing is still new.

Thanks for the advice. It is a black Z06 which I like a lot, but I also like the red ones....and I can get one of those with 16 miles. This particular dealership seems to mark up the other ones quite a bit more then the black one...I'm wondering if it is because it has more miles.

I will talk to them about it and see what they have to say, thanks again.

Hi there,
Depending on the production, the theory about production test drives at the factory are very true, as you may see a window sticker, very small, that says 'property of GM' on it.
IF so, they did some testing on it at the factory, but NO abuse.
Your VIN will tell the tale, as the mileage will be shown at departure from the plant.
Best to ya, and youll love the 6, c4c5

Please excuse my ignorance as this is the first new car I have ever bought, but where on the sticker would I find the mileage from the plant? Is it on the standard sticker or someplace different, thanks.

Hi Erik,
NO, the sticker will say just 'property of GM'
It wont have the mileage on it, however, this sticker is a hint that they tested this car. The dealer can confirm the mileage when it came off the truck.
Sorry if I wasnt clear.
Best, c4c5
