Can someone tell me what final gear the Z06 has? Something like 2.XX?? Has anyone swapped out their final gear for a different one? What final ratio did you go too....and what kind of performance gains did you see? How did it differ from stock, thanks.

A 3.42 is stock. I think 3.7 is perfect for the street on anything from HDs to Zs.

Quarter Jr says the 3.7 would be .14 sec faster than stock.

Cruise rpm in 6th gear at 65 mph would increase about 150.

I assume the Z06 tops out in 5th, but may be incorrect. I don't own one...yet!! :) Does the different rear end effect the top speed at all. If the gearing of the Z is too high....i would assume a lower rear end gear might give you a higher top speed also. Thanks for the info.

It appears from 'real speed runs' posted here that the GM guys did it right. The Z will red line 5th gear ~ 177 mph. But it will not pull 6th gear past ~ 165 mph or so.

The shorter gear will reduce 5th gear top speed to about 162 mph. But it might allow more top speed in 6th ~ 170 mph or so.
