From the Gen.........

Install ONLY the #2 Compression ring, and the oil expander ring from the piston ring kit.............

Do not change ANY other rings, and / or prep bores......

This applies to ALL '99-01..........Camaro,Corvette's
'99-'01 Pontiac FB's
With 5.7L Engines (VIN's G, S -- RPO's LS 1, LS 6 ).

This problem, inherent to vehicles that are 6 spds, and operate @ 3200 rpm's, and above........frequently, or consistently.....

And, that is the "Rest of the Story"..............:)

I think it was about time that they finally acknowledged it in a bulletin and I think it is mainly in part of the people on both forums that brung this issue to light and to keep it alive.

What did one writer call this in one of his GM friendly articles... an "Internet conspiracy theory?"

Kinda interesting that it is only the number 2 compression ring (edited :)).

GM amazes me at times on solving problems like this. I talked to service manager where I live and topic was very quickly avoided just like he told me "you can't trust any of the info we find on the internet". They should just acknowledge the issue fix it and move on. I have had similar expieriences with other GM problems.
