Effective June 22, 2001, GM has released DuraStop drilled and slotted rotors for the 97-01 C5 Corvette. I have not tried them, but they are appearantly available from you regular GM dealer.

88926732 front left
88926733 rear left
88926734 rear right

Chris at Team Chevrolet (mailto:[email protected]) has them for $115 each.

Best price on OEM rotors is around $45 each, so this is a good price for slotted rotors, especially compared to what the aftermarket is charging. Also, not trying to start an argument, but I agree with GM that the rotor warping is due to improper maintenance/installation. I'm on my 4th C5, and have NEVER warped a rotor. I've cracked about 20 sets, but never warped, on street or track.

I'm sure that there is a reason for he warpage (no, I don't sit still after hard braking and let them cook) however the only thing that interests me is how to fix it, or more accurately, how can my *dealer* can quit screwing with me and fix it....yea?

I'd like to see a set of these on a car though....

If you want to compare, we sell slotted (not drilled) rotors from Powerslot, and they use only the finest GM blanks to start with. I run them on my car and they are great. All four rotors (front and rear) retail for less than $400.

Dave - Saw your car at the Grand Prix Le Mans at the TMS in April. I did not realize you were a member of the forum. Would have liked to have met you.

As I have said before, I don't believe that any rotor will perform much better than the OEM's, but if these slotted rotors look good, they will be good for those of you wanting "the look". However, Redshifts rotors sound like a good setup (send me info). I tried the new GM thick-cheak rotors, and although the rotor is thicker, the face started cracking just as quickly as the OEM's.
