Just wanted to pass on my observations on the oil pressure seen on my 02 Z06. Maybe some of you can compare to yours to see if this is the norm.
Baseline Parameters:
Factory fill Mobil 1, 5W-30 oil
Oil filter was OEM factory PF44
Oil temp = 200 F on DIC readout
At idle (800 RPMs), Pressure = 32 psi (on DIC)
At 2500 RPMs, Pressure = 50 psi (on DIC)
Of course if the oil is colder the pressures seen are higher, and if the oil is hotter the pressures seen are alittle lower. I used 200 F as the temperature to measure the oil pressure at.
I'm about to do the first oil change and plan on using the AC Delco UPF44 oil filter, which is less restrictive and should increase the observed oil pressures slightly.
On my 01 Coupe, the oil pressure increased quite abit when the UPF44 oil filter was used. I also noticed that the oil pressure on the Z06 is alot higher than it was on my 01 Coupe when the standard PF44 filter and Mobil 1, 5W-30 was in both.
Do the LS6 engines have higher oil pressure by design vs. the LS1 engines? -- anyone know?
