Talked to an installer today about my new chrome wheels. He seems pretty sharp. He recommended on the vehicle balancing after mounting and dynamic balancing in the machine. Is anyone else using this method?

He also recommended against using the chrome valve stems on my vette chromies. I'll follow his recommendation.

Hi there,
Well, I dont concur with the on vehicle balancing, as there is no additional benefit, as long as the balancing is done correctly.
As for the chrome stems, your call.

Dutch Wheels?

I think the wheels are Dutch. They came from Holland, Michigan. From aaarims. They are on a truck somewhere between there and here.

Z06Y Lady, no longer jumping double dutch. It's a girl thing! :D

You recall I have a high speed harmonic vibration at about 85. The thought here was that we could check all aspects of the hubs as well as the wheels by doing an on vehicle balance. If you say it's not worth while, I'll save $100. Z06Y Lady, shaking like a leaf at 85. :(

Suggest finding a shop with a Hunter GSP9700 wheel vibration control machine. If your issue is wheel balance, this machine will find and fix it. I've used it on two C5s I've owned. Kept the balance perfect!

Here is a link. Find a shop with one by pressing the tab in the upper right labeled "Locate a GSP9700."

Let us know how it turns out.

Hi there,
If you are experiencing a runout issue, or vibration at a certian speed. Ranger is right here, we have that balancer at our shop, and it is VERY accurate. If there is so much as a slightly shifted belt, it will find it.
Also, as long as nothing has been disturbed in the braking area, specifically the rotors or the hubs, you should be fine.
Please let us know how you make out, c4c5

As Paul C4C5 said the balancers are much better today, I used to have the wheels balanced on the car some years back, but have not needed to do that in some time. :)

Keepin Em

I'll keep the wheels to allow me to restore the car to original at some time in the future. Z06Y Lady

The 9700 is a GREAT machine! If the operator has interpretive skills on what info the Hunter provides, the results will be the best possible.

Is the 9700 the machine that does INDEX balancing. I've had the index done on my chromies and it worked great.
