I got a check engine light again yesterday. Same problem as before. a P1416 in the 10-PCM module. You had mentioned it was a passenger side valve of some kind and the intake has to come off to replace it. Since it is an AIR system bank item, am I running a risk of the dealer not fixing it under warranty because I have a Vortex installed. I have no real experience with the dealer I would take it to. So I don't know how they will react. Would like your opinion on this. I don't think putting the stock box back on would help as they probably would remove it to fix the car and would see the hole in the shroud.

Buy a New Shroud

Buy a new shroud...... Not that expensive = peace of mind on all those warranty bug-a-boos that might be keeping you up at night :)

There should not be an issue

H ithere,
You should not have any problem with the dealership in this instance.
The problem that you are experiencing is a known one, as condensation builds in the check valves after shut down, and gradually rust build up. Now, this rust will cause the check valves to stop working, meaning letting fresh air in, from the air pump.
This in turn sets the code, during the next drive cycle diagnostics, because the PCM does not see the o2 sensors compensate when the fresh air is induced.
YOu should not have any problem, as your cold air box will not have any bearing on this fault in any way.

Thanks c4, that's what I was hoping to hear. really didn't want to hassle with a new shroud and taking everything off if I didn't have to. What's the downside to ignoring it? Other than the light coming on, the condition doesn't seem to affect the car. Of course, it may be doing something I'm not aware of or it could cause other problems. Not sure.

Hi there,
This code is for cold start emissions, and should not affect your car in any other way.

Emissions related failure ... should still be covered under warranty after the basic 3 year warranty expires.
