What shoemaker failed to tell you guys.
I offered to sell him the new 2001 ZO6 at a $7,500.00 discount or net net net on a brand new ZO6. I told him he could sell his car at what ever he thought he could get for it and I would still sell him the new ZO6 at a $7,500.00 discount off of MSRP. Same goes for the 2002 ZO6 a $4000.00 discount and he can sell his own car. Chevrolet has said that the paint option is all he is going to get from them but they did offer him an exstended warr. on all paint work at no charge. If in fact he can sell his car for $44000.00 he can make a profit on this BAD DEAL WE OFFERED. As far as the $38000.00 on his car I am offering to sell him a brand new ZO6 for $41500.00 is his car worth more than a NEW one.

Hey Rick,

It seems like you offered him a pretty good deal. Oh well. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif

Contact me with that offer on the 02' Z06.
I'll take you up for it.

Let's get real. You will sell his used Z06 for more than $41500.00, so yes it is worth more than this new one. How many new ones are you going to sell for $41500.00?

Let me try the math here. Rick sells shoe a brand new 2001 Z06 for $41500. Shoe sells his current car to someone who wants it for $44000. Result? Brand New car with no paint problem and shoe pockets $2500. Seems like a deal to me.

OK-jerboa are you gonna give me 44000?I didn't think so.

paid-48000 plus taxes on 01 Z06
they offer 38000 on trade value plus another 3500 to get me in another 01 that they say is only worth 38000 now.
so guys that's 13500 out of my pocket to trade with them to replace a car I asked to be replaced 5 months ago. While Rick is quick to point out GM offers that I alone negotiated what he doesn't say is GM stance that they delivered to MP a car without any problems, their own PDI people signed off on the car.GM says I purchased the car from MP and thats where I should get results from on a delivery issue. MP buys car from GM then sells to me. Their representive told me the morning I called that he understood I didn't want it painted and that they would take care of me. Legally MP is bound by what their representive says whether it's a salesman or the dealer himself. This trade offer in no way is a fair deal. The 38000 is just like saying the paint problem is all my fault and they are not gonna gamble on resale of my painted roof car. You see I know I need to have the car painted and then if I'm not happy sell it and talk to another dealer about a new one but I wanted these forums to see what happens with certain dealers when you leave the lot. I would also point out another forum member traded today for 5000 between a 01 and 02 and he had alot more miles than 526. So they wanna trade with me for 8500 and I been asking for help forever. You can't in any reasonable way say I could have done anything but to call them the next morning so if you think MP has been fair....I disagree. If you think GM offer to paint and extend my warranty is fair....I agree. Please don't lose sight that I could have legally resolved this a long time ago but I thought it would work itself out. Thanks for all your opinions good or otherwise and I really hope this doesn't happen to any of ya'll.

Would I give you $44000 for it? Absolutely not! I understand the previous owner said the car has serious defects from the factory. Besides, the wholesale value of the car became about $38,000 the day the first 2002 Z06 rolled down the line in June of this year. The rule of thumb in the auto business is that it costs you 20% to drive a new car off the lot. That gets worse with the new model release and Corvette has one of the earliest releases in the business.

Hope those who are asking 2001 or 2002 will take note. The 2001 may not be the bargain you thought it was. Good Luck Shoe.

He would be lucky to get $40,000 for a used Z06, not $44,000 since dealers are selling new 2001's for $5,000 off at this stage in the product cycle.

By the way, how serious was this paint problem anyway?

Rickd770, as a former car dealership owner, I know that some people will never be satisfied because they just don't get it, and never will. I think shoe fits that profile.

Shoe, I have a theory that your present car may actually be worth more if you wait for the dealers to unload their unsold 01 inventory. Right now many of them are approaching invoice with the '02's due to hit the streets any day. Use this time to get your car painted (if it is that bad - pics, please) then sell when the market returns as Rick has offered.

The fact that the bottom has dropped on Z06's leading to the offer of $38000 is not Ricks fault. If you both had worked this out sooner, the story might have had a happier ending.
