Ok fellas,
Here is my day at Bowling Green.
First I got up and went to the Corvette Museum. Not too bad, saw some neat cars, but honestly my real Vette interest is in C5's so the museum wasn't that great, but was still cool. The best part of the museum is the CORVETTE PARKING ONLY right up front...killer. Was interesting that only one other Vette driver was there today, he had a Torch red coupe that matched mine.
At about 12:15, I headed over to the factory tour gathering area at the plant. Here is a word to the wise, get there an hour early, I was in group number 10 of 14. These groups were quite large.
Well, I'm waiting for our tour group to be called, and something told me I should go talk to one of the tour guides and let him know that I had a car on the line that day. I told him that I was told to see "Sonny" and that my car #980 was on the line today. The kid says ok, and calls Sonny on the phone but apparently he was not at his desk. The guy then says hold on a few minutes and I will see where your car is, I said COOL, that would be great. Well about 5 minutes later the guy comes back and is kinda frantic. He says "I found your car, but we have to go see it now!" I said OK and grabbed my girlfriend and we all three took off for the plant floor. On way to the floor the kid says, I found 977, 978, 979, but 980 had already gotten off the line. He proceeds to tell me that if I had been 30 seconds later the car would have been put through the water test and out the door. We are still walking and he says, I had (so and so) park your car over here temporarily so you could see it; It just came off the chassis dyno! Well fellas, I hate to break it to you, but if you didn't get Millennium Yellow, well, you know...I'm just saying that in person, Millennium Yellow AIN'T NO JOKE! Keep in mind that I have NEVER seen a Z06 in person, and when I rounded the corner, there is my brand new car in all its glory..it was so beautiful. I even got inside that baby and a plant worker looked at the tour guide kid and said "hey what's going on" and the kid was like "hey its HIS car!" Anyway it was way more than I expected, the yellow in person is so awesome, and the smell of the new car...ugh, terrific! The 405HP logo kicks ass too.
I thanked the tour guy several hundred times and we went back to the waiting area to actually take the tour. At this point I'm in a drug like hypnotic daze, Z06 induced of course. We go through the tour and let me tell you, I only saw one electron blue, it was a coupe, and it was incredible. It right up there with the yellow and let me tell ya that's a lofty status. It was neat checking out all of the cars, my girlfriend was asking me, why would someone get a coupe that costs 48 grand when they can get a Z06 for 51,500? I was unable to answer her. I said that I guessed some people just don't know any better. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
The line was totally full of Torch red, it was everywhere, also a lot of magnetic red. Like I said I only saw one blue, quite a few Black and a few Silver and very few yellow. Seemed to be a lot of Z06's on the line my guess would be 1 in 4 were Z's.
The car hauling trucks were in full force. Hauling ass as well as 2002 Corvettes!
My dealer says that when the car gets to him its ready to roll, I told him the deal about waiting for the invoice and the dealer said it was BS. He said as soon as he gets it he will call me and I can come on down and get it. So I guess that's what I will do. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
What a day!
