It started with a wave on a highway, and then we were off.

Well this was fun. My first chance to compare the at-speed accleration of a coupe and a Z06. I had a full tank and a passenger, plus some luggage, so I was at maximum weight. Still, there was noticably more acceleration from 90 to 140. It seemed the faster we were going, the more extra acceleration I had vs. the coupe. I caught a few rev-limits in 3rd, and I think one in fourth. Oil temperature got up to 132.

And, just as we slowed down to part ways, we came upon a highway patrol. Perfect timing.

Got me wondering how much the weight is a factor in accerlation at speeds in excess of 80mph? I could have had good extra 250 pounds.

You can look up the physics but the important thing is you smoked him AND had the weight as an excuse if you had completely missed some shifts. Finally, the part where the winner didn't get arrested at the end...... priceless.
