I have been running on my polished and clear-coated wheels for about a month now. The brake dust comes off easily. I am happy that I chose to have them polished rather than chromed. On my Syclone the chrome over aluminum did not hold up to the brake dust. Putting the horse away 'wet' (that is without removing the brake dust) caused the chrome to pit badly.
As Paul at Custom Wheel Service in Placentia, CA informed me, the chroming can cost about 20% in strength and the radically different thermal expansion rates of the chrome and aluminum lead to pockets that accumulate water and then the rusted mess.
Call Paul if you have any questions, (714)632-6700.

They look great! I posted a topic requesting info on what you have already done, your timing is perfect!!!!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
How did you handle the centers & lug caps, I would guess gm factory chrome?
How long did it take for them to return them to you?

Besides the pitting problem, I don't want to add unsprung weight to my 02 when it comes. Chromed my 01, looked great but thick chrome added lots of weight, I was surprised when someone posted the difference in weight a couple of months ago.

Why? Are you having trouble with the chrome?

Having just purchased the chrome, which look great BTW, I hoping that there is not going to be a problem with them long term.

David,

We had an exceptionally bad Winter and the crap they put on the roads pitted our chromies bad. Corvette Mike replaced them, but as a daily driver, I would recommend them being polished instead of chrome.

The center caps and lug covers are the standard "chromed" plastic that GM uses on their 2000 and later rims.
That the demarcation from polish to 'chrome' is not visible speaks volumes.
The turn around would have been a day or so had it not been for a log jam in the paint shop to get them clear-coated.

Frank,

Of all the mods I have, the Flameball generates the most "wows". At shows at dusk and night, people just go crazy over it. It's unbelievable!
