As most of you know, the dreaded steering column lock has been a frequent topic among C5 owners.

Am curious if any Z06 owners have experienced this.

For myself, NO. Did not have it with my '99, or Y2K either.

I had column lock on both of my 99 Hardtops. The wife's stuck in the open position and mine stuck in the closed.

AH-HA! So it's ZAINO that causes column lock! I KNEW it!

Zippy, it didn't happen to me (yet) but... my house hasn't burned down and I still have homeowner's insurance! I have the CLB. This made sense. If there WASN'T a problem, WHY did the General take it OUT of the 2001 A4s?

In addition, I'm moving to Cave Creek, AZ...HOTTTTT, just right for Column Lock TROUBLE!

Can you avoid the problem by just not locking your steering wheel when you exit the car?

Sorry, I use Zaino and car has been fine. None of the others in club have had a problem.

I haven't found any problems at all in 3,500 mi. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Z06Black, I think the locking is automatic when you remove key from ignition.

Mine has locked 3-4 times now. But so far if I follow the directions in the DIC (remove key for 10 sec) it has unlocked. Any explainations or fixes?
