Has anyone seen twin intercoolers bolted on so they are parallel with with ground?

I saw a LS1 engine with this configuration and the intercoolers had scoops attached to direct air upward.

If I do this won't a portion of the front air dam need to be removed?

Here is Lingenfelter's twin turbo, taken at the Funfest. It's hard to see because of all the chrome, but I believe they ran across the side of each fuel rail cover.

If I remember correctly, Mallett had a special car with horozontal intercoolers at Carlisle. The car also had a special hood with a top vent to let the air out?
