As you all probably have seen my 1st post, here are the pictures.

This picture is of the engine out of the car and the rings (I believe) have already been replaced.

ALL PICTURES HERE WERE TAKEN AT PERFORMANCE CHEVROLET in CHAPEL HILL, NC.

This is a picture of my transmission somewhat tore apart.

Notice the leak on the tranny housing. According to Performance, this was due to Sir Walter Chevrolet's FAILURE to reassemble the transmission when I had it rebuilt by them earlier this year.

This final picture shows the rear of the car with the sagging right rear facia.

They are claiming that the sagging is NORMAL for all Corvettes and that they WILL NOT fix it.

Any ideas?????

HELP!!!!!

Well when I went today they stated that they are going to finish the engine up and rebuild something in the transmission (I do not know what yet).

They stated that the crack in the rear left corner panel is INDEED a defective SMC body panel.

I advise everyone to check their panels for this type of cracking. If it happened to me, it could happen to you and could be a defect in the material or manufacturing process.!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have stated that they probably WILL NOT fix the facia because it is supposedly NORMAL.

I will update more next week.

JLA - The sagging is normal. Here's one of the discusion threads and the fix from several months ago.

Sagging Rear Fascia Thread

Go here:
ACI Parts Catalog for stiffener plates
Then navigate to ACICatalog then to Fiberglass Body Parts then click on the red square for Bumpers '97 and up for the rear bumper reinforcements. Good luck

JLA - I'm surprised the shop is letting you take pictures of their work. Knowing that, they must be awful proud of the work they do. It'll come back better than ever.

They really didn't have a say in it.

I just took the camera out and started snapping.

Judging from the suprised look and the way some of them moved about.

I would say they were caught a bit off guard.

Egads, not you again. Second Corvette buy back in one year.

Like I said when you told your tale of woe, with your first Corvette, a dealer who would sell you a second car would have to be a glutton for punishment. I will bet Chevy would be willing to give you a several thousand coupon towards the purchase of anything other than a Chevy. ;)

Well perhaps.

1. The servicing dealer should learn to actually service the car correctly so after rebuilding the transmission, the car:

a. Doesn't pop out of second gear.
b. Will go into reverse.
c. Doesn't have a transmission that leaks.
d. Doesn't have a rear stablizer bar that almost falls off.
e. Doesn't have mufflers that rattle.
f. Doesn't have an emergency brake cable that rattles
g. Doesn't have brake lines that rub against rear wheels
h. Etc.

2. The manufacturer should build a vehicle that:

a. Doesn't burn 1 to 1.5 quarts of oil every 400 to 500 miles
b. Doesn't have body panels that crack for no apparent reason
c. Etc, etc etc.

3. The manufacturer should:

a. Respect the Lemon Law Statutes of the state where sells its vehicles.
b. Be sure the dealer's are trained in the PROPER service of the vehicles they sell.
c. Etc, etc, etc.

some things are better left alone

I have to believe the factory engine builders can do a whole lot better job than some grease monkey-in-training. That car will never be the same again.
Too bad. But then again, Mr. Enterprises did ask for it.
