Hello Everyone,

I just bought my 2008 Z06 with about 40k miles on it last week. It is in great shape overall and I love it.

My main concern about buying this car was the 10 yr age and what bushings, bearings, etc. should be replaced to make it feel like new. The car has a few clunks and rattles from the rear end and suspension and what-not. It also isn't the most planted car I've driven but I've previously owned newer cars (Focus RS, CTS-V) that feel quite solid.

Are there common items for C6 Z's (2008 specifically) that can impact the car feeling kind of loose and clunky? Sway bar bushings, end links, etc.?

I'm aware of potential valvetrain issues so let's just go ahead and leave that out...

Looking forward to contributing to the forum! Thanks in advance for any advice.

You shouldn't have anything wore out in 40k miles unless it was tracked a lot. If I were you, I would start with a fresh set of tires and a good alignment and go from there. A Corvette that is a little out of alignment will tramline like crazy so start with that first.

I also have a 2008 Z06, but it has 82K miles. It has been a highway cruiser. There are no clunks and rattles from the back side. I would side with Jub Jub that your car was tracked hard and may be out of alignment, have had major alignment changes for tracking, and/or have worn some bushings. Welcome to the wonderful world of Vettes!

Hi, I also have a 2008 Z with 33,000 miles on the clock that I bought new and no rattles, clunks, creaking anywhere from the car. The car has never been tracked but is opened up on the open road. No complaints, just a bad ass Z still kicking butt after 10 years! Drive her hard she'll love you for it!
