I'm assuming the tranny on the Z uses some type of reverse lockout feature so it would be impossible to hit reverse when quickly going for 5th gear.

I have found on other manual transmission cars though, that if you let the sifter go into neutral for a second, then the reverse lockout feature is disabled and it could be possible to grind reverse if moving forward. Seems to me a better solution would be to control it electronically, and make it lockout reverse when ever the car was moving forward.

Anyone know how the Zs tranny reverse lockout works?

I've yet to have reverse issue. I can't even shift into reverse if the car is rolling forward a bit.

I'd wait for c4c5specialist to tell us how it works.

My guess is electronic, just as the 1-4 shift is controlled electronically...

Read The Manual

If all else fails, read the instructions. The Z06 MANUAL says you are locked out of Reverse at speeds over 3 mph. :)

What Frank said, RTFM :yeadog:

You find some other nifty tips burried in there, like holding reset for two seconds on a trip odometer sets the trip mileage to the distance traveled since the last vehicle startup, or turning on the parking lights while the car is off displays the odometer reading.

Are you refering to the Owner's Manual or the Shop Manual?

I'm too busy driving the Z or trying to fix all the little problems to read the manuals :D.
