Saw my 1st PHONY Z06

On one of my routes to work I go past a Firestone Tire store. Now for the last year there has been a 2000 red FRC parked out front. Yesterday I noticed brake ducts and I pulled in thinking he got a Z06. Well there it was brake ducts, front screens, Z06 emblems, and 2000 wheels.
It kind of makes me sick, I can see putting the Z06 parts on the car but the emblems./phpBB/images/smiles/icon_mad.gif
Now when some Mustang or whatever whoops his ass they will think it was a Z06.

Tom:

Those of us "in the know," will know. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Reminds me of a guy I met at a Bloomington Gold show motel parking lot years ago...claims he had a "first year ZR-1" on his car trailer....I took a peak in the window and saw an automatic trans lever. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif

It is going to happen sooner or later. There are more early Camaro "Z28s" on the road today then were ever built!! Same for SS Chevelles etc.

And then there's the people that pull the Z06 emblems off the side of the car.

OK, I sense a little photo coming up: Someone has to pull one of the Z06 emblems off the side of their car and stick it on a mustang.
You think thats bad, I saw a yellow vert the other day that had the front grills and brake vents with the 2000 wheels on it. I work outside on the tollway in the automatic lanes so when he drove up I said Hey! they dont make a Z06 vert!, the guys wife was with him and she started laughing, he however wasnt, BARF!
This is somthing I don't get at all. Putting the emblems on a non Z06? I guess some people will do anything to feel better about themselves.

I used to have fun the opposite way when I owned a '72 Yellow Dino Ferrari and people would pull up next to me and ask me about my Bradley VW Beetle kit car. I would say yeah and listen to how the new muffler makes the motor sound just as the light turned green.

Notice I am still into yellow...but I don't miss balancing those three carbs.
I agree parts are ok, but emblems should be a crime that may include jail time. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I agree Tom...stay away from the emblems at the very least...

Last week a coupe with Z06 emblems pulled up beside me and waved. There is no shame.
Makes me wonder if they went to the trouble to install the duct work on those vents or do they do the Mustang thing and leave'em fake.
As a stupid kid, I bought GTO emblems. At the the time I had a '64 Tempest LeMans 'vert. It had a 3-in-the-tree and a 215 cid straight six. With a glasspak. It sounded like a SIX. It had a single exhaust. BUT EVEN AS A JERK TEENAGER... I COULD NOT BRING MYSELF TO DO SOMETHING AS STUPID AS ACTUALLY INSTALLING THE EMBLEMS ON THE "PRETENDER". I put the logos on my wall in my room.

Out of school..but still learning!
Chalk up another in the "It's just plain ol' WRONG!" column. It's one thing to like the Z06 wheels, and put them on your car. It's also perfectly fine to put the grills on the front -- I think they clean up the lines on the nose. And hell, if the brake ducts are functional, then why not cool your brakes?

...But a Z06 badge?! That's just wrong! As soon as you put lettering or numbers on your car that serve NO OTHER PURPOSE than to denote the engine/body/model package of a given car, then you're committing fraud on everyone's sensibilities.

You can defend the other cosmetcis by saying "I like the looks of those things over the stock set up." You CAN'T defend a Z06 badge on a non-Z06, since the badge indicates a special factory package (with minimal cosmetic effect), and ISN'T the only cosmetic Corvette badge out there.

I never liked it when people put cobra badges on their non-Cobra 5.0's (partly because they probably lifted 'em from actual Cobra's). But, I suppose a snake on your fender looks better than a "5.0" badge. Again, even so, the Cobra snake badge is just a snake (save for the actual "COBRA" trunklid badge)-- but when you start sticking numbers and letters to you car, you're clearly claiming that it's something it's not.

And that ain't right.

PS -- Don't even get me started on those fake ragtop material packages folks put on their four-door sedans...

Once I saw a stock C4 "VERT", yes a vert, wearing the ZR-1 emblems. I was like what is the point? Someone who doesn't know what a ZR-1 is, will be like "What the hell is a ZR-1" and someone, like me, who knows what a ZR-1 is, will be like "What a stupid ash!!"
Reminds me of the post is it a crime to laugh at someone. Well the answer would be noooooo. Especially when their STOOOOPID.
