Beaverun Raceway is the site of my next SCCA National race. I ran this race last year and was knocked out, along with three other cars, in a four-Corvette pile-up on the first turn of the first lap. Needless to say any finish this weekend will be an improvement over last year's experience.

I tested today to get a feel for the track again. The current track record is held by Andrew Aquilante after he waxed the field last year earning his first SCCA National win. I think the record is a 1:02.6.

We go out on old tires and worn out brakes. My first session Reed Kryder calls me on the radio and tells me "1.02.7" was your last lap. Yikes, that's 2 seconds faster than I did last year.

AJ ran a 1:02.6 in his new C6, and Fred Baker ran some high 1:02s in his Porsche GT3.

Tomorrow everything starts for real, but I feel pretty pumped up for this race!

Good luck and good driving David. Stay calm and cool and don't get collected in any pile-ups. Stay clear and clean and let those lap times work for you.

Great improvement from last year! Two seconds is huge.
