I am on the hunt for a new shift knob for my 02. I have seen some of the pictures before, but wanted to ask those of you that have changed them to post your pictures here, especially if you have a flameball.
I know the knob from the C5R is popular, but I want to see what else out there gets good reviews.

This is the MOMO Phantom (QS + black leather) that I had before the Hardbar® C5R-type. The MOMO is now available for sale.

Harley,
Why did you switch? I had been thinking of doing something like the Momo, but was afraid the silver would stand out on the black interior.
I liked the idea of a flameball (if I could find a tame enough one) but I don't know how comfortable the round shape would be.

Thanks for the pics guys. Keep them coming.

chris,

When put the Hardbar in... it was love at first shift. The MOMO looks cooler (in a QS car), but the HB... perfection. IMHO

HarleyB,

I found out that the Hardbar is made of plastic. How does it feel during shifts? I imagine that it would be okay since you like it a lot. Do you think that an aluminum version would look and feel good in shifts?

TITANS/Z... the problem with all metal knobs (alum., titanium, stainless, chrome steel, etc. is they get HOT!!!! in the summer, and FREEZING COLD in the winter. I'm moving to AZ, if I had a metal knob, I'd have to drive with oven mitts!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

HarleyB,

I have to agree with you about the heat on a metal knob. It really doesn't take too long to get used to.... and I think that I still have some sensitivity in my right palm. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

So how is the feel of the plastic knob compared to a heavier metal one? I personally prefer the heavier knobs because I get a more satisfying "thump" when I row through the gears.

Titans -- I'm not Harley, but I DO have the same Hardbar knob in my car (on a Ripper). To say the knob is just "plastic" does it a disservice. True, the knob is a kind of plastic -- but this is the stuff they make artificial hips and whatnot out of. It's a very sturdy, hard, solid kind of plastic. Also, the threads run deep inside of the Hardbar knob, so when it's screwed down far on the stick, there's no feeling of sloppiness/cheapness from the knob.

I highly recommend the Hardbar. (I turned my neighbor onto the knob, too, and now he has one in his Z28. He, too, loves it.)
