A good friend of mine has an '04 Z. He bought it new and at about 3000 miles, the rear tires were gone, worn out on the inside. He tracks the car but he has another set of wheels and slicks. Anyway, he bought a new pair of F1's and had the car aligned, not at the dealer. Now the car has 8000 miles and this pair of F1's are gone. Does anyone know about a rear suspension warranty issue on the 04's? Seems to me there was. Of course our local dealer doesn't know sh_ _ and wouldn't stand behind it anyway. He was going to buy another pair of F1's and I said I would check on the forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I guess the first thing he's need to do it find out if the car is still aligned properly, of for that matter if it ever was. To late this time, but he needs to pay more attention to his tires. They didn't just suddenly wear out at 8000 miles. :z:

I have to agree. I get the feeling we're only getting half a story here. The first thing I would do (regarding any warranty issue) is get in touch with someone "in the know". A shout-out to C4C5 Specialist seems to be in order.

Let me go back to the original set of rear tires. At 3000 miles they were completely gone, on a brand new Z. That is rather quick. He did track the car during this time, but with slicks, so these tires only had street use. I don't think the alignment shop actually fixed anything, as this 2nd pair is about gone. He thought the bushings might be the problem?

GM's warranty of tires specifically EXCLUDES tread wear life. The warranty covers Manufacturer problems: shifted belts, tread delamination etc. There is NO guarantee, expressed or implied, as to expected tread wear distances for ANY vehicle, including Z06s...
In fact, GM is one of very few Manufacturers who administer tire warrany. Most others show you the directions to the local Tire store, even though you bought the tires with the VEHICLE, not from the ABC Rubber Co. This IS done for Customer Satisfaction purposes....if you have a problem, you have ONE place to go for assistance.
In the above example, alignment or usage would be the FIRST areas to investigate...

The problem started when you didn't take it to the dealer at 3K. They might have warrantied it then BUT now that you have had a non GM dealer readjust the settings now you have a problem that GM will not cover. If the tire is wearing in the inside it is a camber problem which you ought to see on the settings sheet.
