Should I allow dealer to wash car prior to taking delivery?

I was just curious as to how many of you had the dealer prep your car before picking it up? Is it safe for them to do so, or not? Also, do they run the car through a machine or handwash?

I had to drive my car about 450 miles after I picked it up, and it comes in with all kinds of crap on it, so it made sense for them to detail the car. They did a good job, in my opinion.
I never let the dealers touch my car any more than they absolutely have to.....
So the answer is NO.
NO WAY!!! I picked up my car after the dealer having it only 3 days and washing/detailing it once. I have polished all the scratches out after 5 coats of Zaino Z-5.
When the car came off the train, there is was so much dirt and stuff... even with the protetive film they put now (I can't believe they didnt do that sooner when I saw the how dirty it gets just getting to the dealer).

I gave specific orders not to wax the car. But I let them wash it. I figured no harm in that and it helps with final inspection of the paint before driving it off the lot. I waited 30 days and waxed her... not a single swirl mark on her.

My dealer is one of the largest volume dealers in the US and the owner is a big time Corvette collecter. They know how to handle Corvettes and the customers that buy them. They asked me exactly how I wanted them to handle the car when it was delivered to them. They even made suggestions based on past experience with other Vette buyers. They detailed mine - helped make the delivery more enjoyable! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I washed mine myself at the dealers lot within 15 minutes of it coming off the carrier truck. Used Zaino car wash and a soft cotton wash towel. Then they did the inspection, etc....3 hrs later it was home /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

If you can, try to be there when they take it off the truck. I have heard some horror stories. A hand wash is ok. Don't let them wax, just do the Zaino deal when you get home. jmho. fubu/les

I trust my dealer, and most of the employees there know me.... I say yes, you can hand wash the car before delivery.

Street,

My deal was about the same as Amish. Dealer asked how I wanted it done, and it looked like it was "Show" ready when I got it. (Bob Benedix, Bill Estes Chev.)

Good luck on yours,

Thanks guys/gals for your responses. I really appreciate your time in answering my question. I just want a pleasant experience from the beginning, until I drive it home without having to run into any problems whatsoever.
