spring mountain motorsports experience

Last week I travelled to Pahrump, NV. and did the three day driving school. For all of you Z06 owners that want to experience the ultimate in driving experience I highly recommend going to the school. You are taught proper braking techniques , heel to toe downshifting, how to attack a 2.2 mile road track and much more. The nice thing about the experience is the huge amount time you spend behind the wheel. There are two way radios in the car so you are basically being observed and critiqued by the instructors during shadow lapping and by instructors you are out on the track watching you. The last day they allow you to do free lapping so that you are able to compete with or other classmates.
One of the many things that I really appreciated was that you learn the capibilities of the awesome car that we own. Those capibilities sure exceeded my expectations. The racing instructors give a demo lap around the track for those who are old enough to remember it was definitley an E ticket ride at Disneyland. The power, along with the active handling and ABS system allows the corvette to out perform the more expensive exotics around the track hands down.
I was able to drive the C6 as well around the track. I liked the throttle response of the car but the Z handled much better. Again, I did not like the C6, compared to C5, I am very happy to to own 01 Z06. As a note they have 3 C6 Z06's on order should be there late summer.

Thanks for the feedback! I was planning on going to visit them this summer, so good to know.
Bill, thanks for posting about your experience at Spring Mountain.

There is nothing like having a satisfied student tell the Corvette Community about the fun of attending a Spring Mountain school.

It's a shame that you couldn't stick around for the weekend and enjoy our Corvette Track Days and BBQ. We do get people traveling from great distances to enjoy the camaraderie of the Track Days.

Come back and visit us again real soon for a Level 2 class.

This is on my list of things to do. Just need to finish a project or two and free up some budget.
Bill, Thank you for such a gracious writeup of our school this is Matt by the way one of your instructors at Spring Mountain. Oh and remember "brake-clutch-neutral-blip-select-release"........ just a little reminder of all you learned :)
Nice write up! Glad to hear you had a fantastic experience!

I'm hoping to attend their class after their C6 z06 cars arrive.

Springmtn22: Welcome to the site!
I wonder how long their Z06's last. That's gotta be a pretty rough life those cars lead :D
I also have to give thumbs up :thumb: for spring mountain motorsports... I haven't taken their corvette driving school however I have been there 3 times for other car club track events with my previous car (300ZX Twin Turbo) and had a blast!!! I have gotten alot of track time every event I've attended for affortable price (that is at the top of my list). The staff was very helpful and friendly as well making the weekend that much better... I know I'll be coming back with the Z06 this time for more fun!

Spring Mountain was able to pick up new C5 Z06's last year and is always looking for those extremely low mileage Z06's that were never really driven. The inventory of C6 Z51's continues to increase. The older C5 Z06's are cycled out as the mileage climbs. Spring Mountain will only keep high quality cars for the students to use.

The excitement is rising for the highly anticipated arrival of the C6 Z06's.
The C6 Z06's will have prominent spots in the Spring Mountain stable.

I am very happy to welcome Spring Mountain instructor Matt Long (springmtn22) to Z06vette.com. Matt has a wealth of knowledge that he can share with us.
