On my TR Z, I have swirl marks on the hood and trunk (but not the top or sides:-?)where it looks like the dealer put the car through a car wash. I am using Zaino Z-5, but you can still see them in the sunlight. Will I have to take my Z to a professional and have the paint buffed out? :-?

Damm Dealer's  I would apply between 2-4 coats to just the hood and trunk of Z-5, I am sure you have enough on the rest of the car, after several coats if the problem is not better then you will need to use an abrasive product like 3M Scratch and Swirl Remover, or have it done, just make sure that you find a good detail shop/body shop or the problem could be worse

I feel your pain. The MB dealer puts the cars through a wash at every service. He only did mine once:flaming: I told the dealer just take the shipping coating off and I do the rest. I think they use steel wool to wash! A good detailer will take care of that.

Swirls

MS, Get some ZYMOL........it will take the swirls out, only it will leave minute marks, you use it in back & forth motions, not circular.
At least it looks MUCH better than the swirls........
I am going to ZAINO, as soon as I can.
Mine is Black, and it was the same as yours, and you can imagine how much MORE obvious the swirls were......:puke:

Thanks Guys! :yeadog: I now have three coats of Z5 on and am hoping one or two more coats will do it. Otherwise, I'll take it to a paint specialist that I took my 99 to. Will not go back to the dealer!!:(

Hi Mike,

Get some of the 3M stuff, I don't have the name with me, but I do have some at home. My daughter came down and I used it on her car. It works much better than the Z5 Sal will tell you it won't work as well...
If you want to come over the house we can try and buff it out with it.. It works great..

Just a thought....

BTW E-Town 12.16 my best so far....

When layering up the Z-5 to cover scratches, is it really necessary to wait 24 hours between coats?

I have a furnace in my garage and can get it up to 85 F real quick, so it dries pretty quick. Also, does Z-6 between coats actually make a difference in a case like this?

Thanks!

Hello Brian.

IMO the Z6 makes a big difference in the easy of application/removal and the depth of the shine on following Z5 coats.

I have always waited at least 8 hours in warm weather before another coat of Z5, just to play it safe.

Need to get one of those random orbital buffers that Griot's Garge has. I hear they cut the job in half or better
