Switching out the Blackwing for the BPP Vortex

985 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  fcalmes
Althhough I am very happy with the Donaldson Blackwing I have decided to purchase and install the complete Vortex system with the Power duct. Breathless is going to install the system on Wed May 2. I'm hoping that I can transfer this system to my EB '02 Z when it arrives in Aug. If there is anybody interested in purchasing my Blackwing with the Z06 adapter for $150 INCLUDES REGULAR SHIPPING please email me at [email protected] The unit is 4 weeks old with aprox 350 miles. I have the original box. BTW has anyone out there had experience with both products?? and if so is there a real seat of the pants difference??? THANKS IN ADVANCE! FUBU69/LES.

Based on dyno info I've seen you are making a performance step down. The Donaldson flows more air than any other filter, just look at its surface area. Also if you want a bottom breather, TPIS sells the kit to make the Donaldson a bottom breather for less than $80. As far as the air bridge, it is not necessary unless you have a stroker motor with a ported TB. Doug Rippie is of the same opinion on this. This is of course just my humble opinion, although it is a learned one. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

If I didn't already own the Blackwing, I would say this is quite a bargin price.
The system I really would like to get is the Halltech bottom feeder with the red carbon fiber power duct. My problem is I need a high quality shop in Broward or Palm beach county to install it for me. FUBU69/LES IF YOU KNOW OF 1 PLEASE EMAIL ME AT [email protected]

Les, installing the TRIC system is not that difficult. Jim even sends out a CD-Rom with the instructions on it, for the mechanically challenged. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
