Since it looks like I will be joining the select fraternity of Z06 owners in about 8-10 weeks, I am starting tothink about some basic mods. I know that I will be purchasing the FRC partition - hope to catch a group buy on it somewhere.

As for CAGS, is it that intrusive that most folks have opted to bypass it?

It is my understanding that Chev has been making incremental progress of resolving the steering column lock problem. What is recommended here? Is the problem now resolved for the new cars?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks...

I had though about the partition but I play golf and I don't think you could get clubs in with the partition. Can these things be removed quickly.

I don't find the CAGS to be enough of an annoyance to worry about. On the few occassions when it does begin to engage, I quickly go back into 2nd. I have the 25 cent resistor to do it however.

I probably won't install a SCL bypass until I have a problem. On the other hand, if I take several ong trips this summer, maybe I should.

I have the CAGS on my Trans Am and absolutely hated it. I researched my own work around, plugs, etc to get rid of it before there were kits available. I thought it was unsafe, giving me 4th gear at low rpm when I wanted and needed 3rd. Each individual has to decide
what to do, but I'd have paid a lot more than the cost of the CAGS eliminator to get rid of it. jerboa /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

What Beastmaster said. CAGS is a pain in the a$$.

The colum lock thing has been OK on all cars in our club. Must weigh the fact if it fails locked, you must load it on flatbed or have road built for car in the direction it is locked in.

Beast: Is that HTML or C++? /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

CAGS - I tell ya what.. During breakin, it forces you to do some of the WORST things you could ever imagine to an engine.. Stop light.. Slight decline.. Turns into a pretty big uphill..

So you shift, notice CAGS is engaged, think about the stupidity of CAGS for a brief millisecond, say some curse words while dropping it into fourth.. By the time you're about to come out on the clutch, you notice your RPMs are too low.. So blip the throttle, get fourth in.. Let out the cluth.. Ooops! Now you're in 4th at about 12 mph going up a hill! GREAT!!

The best day of my life was the day CAGS was destroyed. Well, maybe not.. Counting the miles 497..498..499..500 - GO! GO! GO! GO! .. That was a rush, too. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
