Ha! In North Carolina (where the "good book" or it's contents are used at every possible chance) we have something called a "PJC". It stands for "Prayer for Judgement Continued". What they do here is, if you have been a bad boy/girl, the judge can grant you a PJC which
is basically the same as your article 893 except you have to be good for 3 years!
This is granted by the judge (I've been told if you ask for it, they like to refuse). It's based on your previous driving record. If you've been habitually bad, you're cooked.
If you know the DA (hehehe) they can recommend it themselves.

I had the honor of using a PJC about 5 years ago when I was cruising down the interstate toward the coast just under 80MPH (limit was 55 at the time). I was so relaxed I didn't even notice the trooper behind me until he was 10 feet off my bumper!
WOW! Back to reality! He was a smart a$$ too. Wanted to know what color they used to call my hair..... it's light colored these days..... I had a cooler in the front seat so he tried their little "sniffer" on me as well. Sorry, it was soda. No breaks, sited me for 75 in a 55 and said the court visit was mandatory because in NC, 20 MPH over the limit and you lose your license for a year.

I got a ticket in Illinois a couple of years ago for doing 84 in a 65. Cop told me I was going too fast for Illinois roads, I smiled and said "Not for this car!!"

Anyway, I hired an attorney, which is what I ALWAYS do, and they made me the same deal. I paid the fine and if I didn't get a ticket for 6 months, then they dropped the charges.

Good one Frank! My wife's from central Ill. and every year we make the trek (been flying lately to save time). About 15 years ago I drove from NC until we hit the Ill border and my wife took over the driving. I was being good, about 10mph over the speed limit.
When my wife took over, she bumped it up to about 20MPH over the limit. Within the first 5 miles a trooper in the opposite direction made the "U" and pulled us over. She batted her lashes a few times and GOT A WARNING! I've NEVER gotten away from being stopped without a ticket...!!! I've never let her forget that either and she does a lot more of the driving!

I got pulled over a few days before Christmas several years ago, I sent the cop a huge gift basket for Christmas and he never showed up for court, good thing 88 in a 45 zone would not have been pretty, that was my only ticket in the past 20 years.

I find that gift certificates for the writer of the citiation and the caller (fellow trooper/officer) to that writer go a long way to making the citation "go away".

I just called it a gift

A gift that worked. I think around Christmas time many people in my area are sending, baking or giving gifts so I thought it could not hurt to try, and it worked. I think if it was during another time of the year it would have been looked at differently.
