Ugly steering wheel

2050 Views 15 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  VPRKLLR
Is it just me, or is the corvette steering wheel one of the most visually handicapped? The only steering wheel uglier is the Camaro's. Personally, I like the three spoke design. BUt even so, Chevy could still make the four spoke design a little nicer. In this month's MotorTrend there is an article about the '02 Subaru WRX with a picture of it's interior. This $24,000 car has a MOMO! Our car costs about twice as much and what kind of steering wheel do we have? I don't even know.

Does anyone know of any aftermarket wheels that are air bag compliable that would fit our cars?

This is my only gripe about my car, everything else is great. Well, except for the cupholder, but you shouldn't drink and drive anyway./phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Carl,

That is a super wheel... about how many $$$ for a solid (Black) one for Z? TIA

JMHO... the steering wheel & shifter are what you have your hands on 100% of the time you're driving your pride & joy, so these mods are one of the most enjoyed. Seats would be good too! I've got the Kirban/Harbar... I WANT THAT WHEEL!!

What would you rather have, 200hp, and a Momo steering wheel or 400hp and a plain steering wheel? I personally haven't paid much attention to the wheel myself, it seems pretty normal to me. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif At least its leather wrapped.

I never noticed the wheel either. Not that I stare at it. It feels good and that is what I go by. You could always go get yourself one of those nice "furry" covers.
Harley, take the link in my post and there should be pricing on Caravaggio's web site, if not e-mail John Caravaggio through the site. If you think the stock wheel feels good you would not believe how good the Caravaggio wheel feels, he uses a much better grade of leather and pads the wheel and adds the thumb grip areas, as I said I much have one of these on my new Vette. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Thanks Carl. You understand about the wheel....
Yes I do!!!! I have my hands on the wheel and my fiancee and it's important that they both feel good.
I never pay any attention to the steering wheel. It seems to do its job quite well. Having the airbag in it makes it bulky however.
Forget the steering wheel, its fine the way it is.
Focus on the audio system, that will cause you further frustration later on.
The first thing I am going to do is put two 12" Sony X-Plod ES subwoofes and three 1000watt Sony X-Plod ES amplifiers, all under plexiglass with surrounding red neon.
I think it will look beautful inside of my 02' Torch Red with Modified Torch Red interior.
Hello.

I thought I saw someone post something about a MoMo or a Sparco Steering wheel in the past. You might want to call both of them and ask if they have something that will work on the stock steering stem. If they do have something post your findings so others will know. I will agree with you on the stock wheel issue, it is not that good. I liked my all aluminum Sprint Car wheel better than this one. But it is a street not a race car. LOL. Or is it? LOL.

Sincerely,
Justin C.
Hey VPRKLLR, you should think about some subs from Illusion audio (http://www.illusionaudio.com). I've got some in my truck and my friend Tim has them in his truck, and they are absolutely nuts.

The 8's I have are super thin (like 2" deep), and sound sooooooooooooo good.
Thanks for the advice,
I'll look into it.
