Vortex Ram Air install question

1015 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Black_Magic
just got mine from UPS. Came with a paper template. Does the template go from the top, next to the radiator or from the bottom as far as placement for the cut. Any one know of any shortcuts or hints I could benefit from? Thanks

From the bottom. There's a small lip at the bottom of the shroud. Let the template set on TOP of this lip. Tape the template in place, mark your holes and take your time. The shroud is a little tough to cut, just take your time and be patient and everything will fall in place.

Be careful. My template hole was off-center.

Save yourself a lot of trouble and install it like this:

Install the Vortex with the filter before cutting the shroud. Once the filter and box are attached to the MAF, place the Vortex box where you want it and drill the holes through the holes in the Vortex box. Remove the vortex and cut the hole in the shroud inside the drilled holes. Reinstall the Vortex and you're done. Should take no more than 30 minutes and there's no measuring or template involved. This is the method I use and it works every time.

Put masking tape on your shroud and mark on the tape, it's much easier to see your marks.

But most of all go slow.
