Got out of work early on this glorious sunny summer day. Took the elevator up to the sixth floor of the parking ramp, underneath the helideck, got in, turned the key and got the message....."Service Column Lock: Remove Key, wait ten seconds." I did so three times to no avail.

Called the local Chevy service department and explained my plight. I also informed them that they might not be able to get a tow truck or flatbed in the ramp.

15 minutes later the service manager/foreman shows up in a new coupe off the showroom floor! He said if he couldn't get it running that he would wait for the tow truck and I could take the coupe as a loaner. Restarted it again an he listened for the slave motor in the column. It worked this time.

He said to follow him back to the garage and they would change it out anyway. They gave me the coupe as a loaner so the afternoon wasn't a total loss!

I guess with that kind of MSRP they'll make "house calls". Great service by Hallman Chevrolet in Erie, Pa.

I hate to bring this up, but it's probably the way you park your car. Oil comsumption is due to the way we drive so I figure the column lock must be the way we park. I hope they don't blame us for column lock too, look what happened to Audi with their self acceleration problem in thye 80's......
