Standing vertically on the flywheel end or laying flat on the ground on the throws?

I vote for flat, but i have no idea.

All my engine building books say Vertically, they'll warp if left horizontally long enough with out support for the main journals.

Vertically, and you should coat it with oil immediately.

A local engine builder here says that spraying them with PAM is a an excellent way to keep any corrosion from forming.

I guess the most fun way to "store" the crank will be to build another killer engine around it to keep it nice and snug ;) hehe

our local crank builder hangs them on a rack with the balancer end down.any other way could cause them to warp.i guess it would be okay to hang it up by the balancer bolt too.

Hanging, vertically, from either the flywheel/flexplate, or balancer end.
Standing runs a slight risk of twist, horizontal definitely runs the risk of warpage...
