WHATS A GOOD BREAK IN

The "book" on breakin is to vary your speed, nothing over 55, no high revs, no hard breaking, etc. for the first 500 miles. It's apparently as much for the trans, rear, rotors as it is for the motor. I was good for the 500. At 499 I was sitting at a light, front of the line.... Gone!

My .02 on the mineral oil is.... not a chance in hell. Here's a question for you...
what do you think the service manager is going to tell you if take the car there for ANY kind of engine problem that happened to develop while you were using mineral oil?
If I have a problem with the car, they'll get it back to fix it. I'm not playing with fire because "someone else" thought it would be a good idea. They won't be coming to your aid if you bust the motor.

If you have to drive, do it in a C5.

Easy on the brakes for 200-300 miles, not stopping too hard and giving them a chance to cool, this will seat them properly.

STANDARD FOR ME IS FIRST 2000 VARY SPEED, BUT DO NOT MAINTAIN CONSIST SPEED FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. CHANGE OIL AT 500 MI THEN 3000 MI. HOW DOES THIS SOUND AM MISSING ANYTHING. WHATS THE STORY ON MINERAL OIL AS A BREAK IN OIL?
