Been autocrossing the S4 until now - now gunna run with the Z. Went looking on Tirerack for some cheap wheels and some kuhmo's - but my search came up EMPTY??? What R-compound tires are people running with?? The only thing I found were some BFG's, but I'd rather run Kuhmo or Hoosier..

Also, how much wider (if any) are people going to? 325's? I forgot how much wider you can go and still be in stock... Hmm.

And the fact that searches for wheels for the '01 Z turned up nothing.. Eww..

TOO COOL!!thanks for adding my pics here. How the hell you doing that?
I am racing sunday first time at a sanctioned event. Will post the GOOD/bad news monday if this machine can handle these hopped up C4 autocrossers. OR should I say...can the nut behind the wheel do HIS job? I also asked on another thread regarding putting those 17" wheels on the back & keeping the car in COMP DRIVING. SOmeone told me that will screw up the computer sensors. 3 runs last wek seems to not do anything to it. There is no practice at this event so I need to know what to do. THanks!

The problem myself and other autocrossers are having with the ZO6 tire/wheel situation is remaining in a stock class (stock size wheels all around 17x9.5 & 18x10.5) The rear wheel being 18x10.5" is to narrow for the Hoosier "A compound" 335,(11" wheel min.) and, the next size down in an 18" tire is a 275 (which has a tread width only 2/10" narrower than the stock 295 Supercar Tire)Since no one else makes an 18" Autox tire yet, any ZO6 owner who wants to remain in a stock AutoX class will have to go with the hoosier A3S03 in 245/40/17 front & 275/35/18. That's all she wrote until Kumho comes up with the 18' Tire they've been promising for two years (285?). Hoosier also makes these sizes in a Roadrace compound "R3S03", they're almost as stickey when they get hot (2 runs) as the A3S03's, and they'll last about twice as long. In fact, they make a 305 in the "R" compound for 18" wheels.

GoFastBilly,

Actually Z-06's are doing fine with the Hoosier 305/30/18 A3S03 Autocross Rear, and your choice of 275/40/17 Hoosier, or Kumho.

I have also tested the new 285/30/18 Kumho that hasn't been released yet. The tire unfortunately is to small for our 10.5" Rears, however... hopefully they will make us the 295, or 305 we need! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Peace
