If so, please give your opinions on quality, etc. I would also like to know if anyone got a screamin' deal from CM. If you don't want to show it here, please send me a private message at least.

Thanks

Hi guys,

First time on this forum. I was wondering if anyone had any information on how much the repro wheels weigh, compared to the OEM.
I hear that the '01 OEMs are 19.6/21.4 pounds (front/rear).
I talked to a guy at Corvette Wheel Specialists, and he told me that repro chromes are either made in America or Tiawan (sp?). He claims the American made wheels are only 1-2 pounds heavier than OEM. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to weigh them - I was wondering if anyone could verify this claim...

Best regards,
Kevin

Chrome quality?

Does the quality of the chrome finish diminish on the rim area behind the spokes? I was curious as my wifes Chrysler chrome wheels are great on the surface but looking through the spokes the rims don't have the same quality finish.

TIA

Yes, to a degree ... but I think you will find this to be true on all the chomies out there. There is still chrome there, but its just not as smooth/shiny as the outside surfaces because of surface preps.

I imagine if you wanted to have yours chromed special, you could request that the area behind the spokes gets the same treatment, but you will be paying alot more too :D.

Thats the story I got from Corvette Mike's too. He said there repro wheel was US made, and only was 1~2 lbs heavier.

I'm dropping a set of 2002's to my friends shop next week, and I will ask him about the "inner" aspect.

I will assume the CM wheels are triple plated??????

I'm getting a "buddy" deal at $450.00 for the job:D :D

Now all I need is a car to put them on!
