I think it takes great nerve to run at race speeds in the dark with headlight illumination limiting how far you can see down the track.
It takes large attachments (as David Hobbs would say). Think about "back in the day" with crappier lights and higher speeds - in the rain :eek2:

I guess you are thinking about the old 'sealed beam' lights that you could buy at any gas station for $2.50 ? sealed beam light = crap lighting

Sure, it's easy.

If you have a fast car, the sanctioning body slows you down by adding weight and limiting engine breathing.

Like the SCCA, the idea is to make the faster cars slow, instead of raising the slower cars to become faster.
Stupid? You bet.
Stifles competition? You bet.

The 24 has been ruined by yellow flags/full course/safety car crap. It's now NASCAR...

It's like if you earn more money, it's considered "unfair" so the IRS taxes you @ a higher rate.

It is the French....and the France's family runs NASCAR........sooo :yeadog:
