It's called "the vette net" Nationwide high-line brokerage network. They are a sponser of the corvette forum that's how I found out about them. Hope that helps, G.

I have not bought/sold any Vettes from them, but have had numerous "hassles' from them on the other forum. I am not one to complain or cry sour grapes, BUT in this case I want to notify you and any one who reads this to know about this ourfit.

The other forum was asked to "ban me" from posting there by one of the brokers of the Vette Net. This unnamed person also said "He did NOT look forward to meeting me at their 2nd annual cruise-in." OK by me, I took the hint and did not attend their cruise in because I did not want to go where I wasn't wanted...would you? That in itself didn't matter to me, but I feel bad because I did not meet the hundreds of good people I was looking forward to meeting...sad!

My main intent on posting info about cars for sale on the other forum was simply to help fellow Vet lovers SAVE money when buying a new Vet. If, dealer X, Y, or Z, offered the best discount on a new Vet, I strongly suggest the potential buyer at least call that dealer to inquire about the price. Not too complicated, is it? And yes, I do receive a $100 referral fee IF anybody buys from a certain dealer I like. I always split that $100 finders fee with the buyer 50/50.....anything wrong with that? I have also recommended other dealers to forum readers where by I did NOT get referral fees...I simply wanted to help the out of state buyer find a dealer who sold him a new Vet at GMS price, which saved that fellow thousands of dollars. Anythingwrong with that? BUT, Vette Net does not like me posting anything on the for sale topic of the other forum....matter of fact I have been officially "warned" by the owner of the other forum that I will be banned if I post one more time on their for sale topic! OK, I respect that because he owns it and makes his living from the forum. No problem with Zippy on that. However, when it comes to a "Broker and/or Agent" finding someone a Vet of their dreams I have to pause and ask myself: "Why should I pay a middle man hundreds of dollars to help me find a new Vet? Hello? It is not too difficult to call or email different dealers yourself and save yourself middle man fees.

Enough of my soap box ramblings...if anyone wants help/tips/suggestions/contacts/ or anything further regarding buying the Vet of your dream, please email me privately and I would be glad to help you any way I can!

OOPS!! Forgot about that one. Sorry Zippy!! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Zippy has ALWAYS tried to help fellow forum members. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_cool.gif Vettenet inquired once about sponsoring this forum but they wanted guarantees that I would not let Zippy post about other dealers. I told them I could not stop fellow members from helping each other. So...they are not a sponsor, and that is OK by me. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I agree with you Zippy,

Usualy I tell the person that is looking for the Corvette to look on www.gmbuypower.com

This site shows all of the cars that are available, all GM cars;i.e.Cadillac, Pontiac, Chevrolet, etc.

Usually the cars are on the site a couple of days before they are on the lot, so you know they are probably not sold.

I have referred many people to this website and most, if not all have found the Corvette that they were looking for, and most of them have found them in a local dealer.

Greg,

I have first hand experience with this outfit. I dealt with a guy named Ludwig (email [email protected]). I live in CA (Bay Area) where the dealers were asking 10-12K over MSRP (this was in Jan 2001). Ludwig found me one in Memphis, TN and arranged to ship it out to me (took 2 weeks). I bought it for $600 under MSRP and shipping was $750. Ludwig took care of everything, even offering to pay for a factory defect in the windshield molding that the dealer initially refused to cover under warranty (two weeks after the car was sold)- the dealer ultimately paid to have it replaced.
I was apprehensive about using this unknown broker over the internet, but I really can't say enough good things about them. Also, I have never read anything bad about them on this or the "other" forum.
Don't know how to respond to Zippy's comments...
As for their cut of the transaction, I never knew, and to be honest, didn't really care. I HIGHLY recommend them.
Hope that helps,
Pete

You might try asking them what their fee is for finding your car, after all, as a customer, you have a right to know what you're paying....I believe one of their posts on the other forum said $750, but don't quote me on that figure...again, why not ask them?

Torched,

The gentleman we are referring to here is Ken Mihai. He is President of www.thevettenet.com and he's been brokering Vettes for about 3 years. Ludwig is his business partner. The Kansas City Star did a favorable article about him and thevettenet.com in June of 1999. He matches "dealers with cars" to "qualified buyers". He makes his money by getting a finders fee from the selling dealership. What's in it for the dealer is access to a larger market than his local customer base and a quick sale. What's in it for you is usually a discount off of MSRP and quicker access to a vehicle than what you can typically do on your own. As I said earlier, Ken's in it for the dealer paid finders fee. When it works, it's a win for you, a win for the dealer, and a win for Ken. Seems fair enough. I know of him because he worked on putting me into a MY 2002 Z06.

Torched,
If you want, I can give you the name of my dealer here in TX who can try to help you out. He has been upfront and honest. Not the most up to date on all the details, but I have heard good things from his previous customers.
I don't know about courtesy shipping, but you can always pick it up at the factory.
I also don't know how far down the list you would be. I would suspect 4 or 5. That might mean Christmas, but if you want to make a call I will supply you with the information (he will also give $1000 under MSRP - if that is worth the wait).
I don't know if this helps you any. If not, good luck on your search.

I am in the middle of a transaction with Ken Mihai of The Vette Net and highly reccommend him.

When dealers in SD where asking MSRP or thousands above for an 02 Z and no gaurantee of when delivery would occur, Ken got me $1500 below MSRP and a September allocation. Order# DMSQPC /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
