What is the widest tire you can put on the rear of a stock 18X10.5 rim? And if a 315 is the widest who makes them? I know you can get a 315 on there but will a 335 fit or is that too wide and made for an 18X12 rim? I'm just looking for the widest tire I can put on the back of my Z06 to help plant these ponies on the ground. I really want a mickey thompson ET street but I think the largest they come in is 275/40/17's.

The 315/30 18 is the largest tire currently available for the stock rear wheels of your Z06. Others here have done away or modified their rear brake vent in order to fit a 335 on the rear. I tried some on one time & they certainly look great but I didn't go that route as I want to avoid brake "fading" due to lost heat dissipation. I would hate for that to happen when I really needed to stop!

Personally, I prefer the Michelin Pilot Sport IIs (aka PSIIs). They have great treadwear, temperature, and water management ratings. They're one of the more expensive tires for your Z, but I think they are the best all around choice. I live in Denver and the rain can play havoc with the stock F1SCs. When someone makes a 315/35 or 40, I'll be all over them as most of the available selection doesn't fill the wheel well as much as I'd like. There are some Nitto "riders" here as well that can give you their experiences as well.

*laughing* It's amazing how often this question arises. I asked it only 2 months ago and have seen it asked multiple times since.

So the 335's will fit on a stock rim? They just don't clear in the wheelwell like they should? I'm just going to put them on extra rims for the track so the brake fading hopefully wouldn't be a problem. I've seen the tire opinion question pop up alot myself. I'm more concerned with tire size. As far as what I have seen I don't think anything street legal hooks up as good as the M/T ET streets, (the ones with the tiny little grooves..they are basically slicks but street legal) because they last longer than the BFG's. But they obviously can't be driven in rain or anything.

My 305-35's just come to the very edge of the wheel well lip. I dont like a tire that would go further out than that as its very tacky.

A 335/35/18 tire on a 10.5 will fit on the rim, but that rim is way to narrow for the tire. IMO it will not fit on the car without rubbing because the rim is the wrong outset. For stock Z06 rim the largest tire is 315/30/18.

The largest size tire that is proper for a 10.5" OEM rim is a 305. You can squeeze a 315 on but they are not properly sized.

The minimum size for a 315 is an 11" and an 11.5" is better. 335's need at least a 12"
